
Index Medical College, Hospital & Research Centre, a constituent of Malwanchal University, Indore, successfully organized a comprehensive training workshop on Ethics, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and New Drugs & Clinical Trials (NDCT). The event witnessed the active participation of faculty members, researchers, and medical students. The objective of the workshop was to raise awareness and understanding of international and national regulatory guidelines for ethical clinical research practices. The Department of Pharmacology, in collaboration with various expert speakers, led informative sessions throughout the workshop.
The inaugural address was delivered by Dean Dr. G.S. Patel, who emphasized the importance of such workshops as guiding tools in the clinical trials sector. He highlighted that in the evolving landscape of healthcare, knowledge of GCP and ethical practices is essential for every medical professional. Vice Dean Dr. P. Nyati elaborated on the phases of clinical trials and discussed the scope of biomedical and clinical research in India. Key insights into the responsibilities of stakeholders such as sponsors, investigators, regulatory bodies, and ethics committees were also shared with participants. Dr. Arti Sahastrabuddhe, Professor and Head of the Department of Pharmacology, provided a deep understanding of the principles and history of GCP, underlining its relevance in both national and international contexts.
Chairman of Index Group of Institutions, Shri Suresh Singh Bhadoria, has always emphasized the importance of ethical education and global standards in clinical practice. Under his visionary leadership, the institution continues to promote academic excellence and research integrity. The workshop also featured sessions on informed consent, patient confidentiality, protection of vulnerable groups, and clinical research safety. Dr. Poonam Patel addressed ethical concerns in pharmacological studies, while Mrs. Deepshikha Vinayak, Assistant Registrar (Research), discussed documentation, data handling, and regulatory audits. The event concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony, graced by Vice Chancellor Dr. Sanjeev Narang, Dean Dr. G.S. Patel, Vice Dean Dr. P. Nyati, and Medical Superintendent Dr. Swati Prashant, reinforcing the university’s commitment to developing well-informed and ethically responsible healthcare professionals.
