As part of World Breastfeeding Week 2025, the Department of Community Medicine, Index Medical College, Hospital and Research Centre, Indore, organized a meaningful community awareness program on 6th August 2025 at the Village Akbarpur Anganwadi. The initiative was conducted under the guidance of Shri Suresh Singh Bhadoria, Chairman of Index Group of Institutions, whose constant encouragement and vision have been instrumental in promoting health education and community outreach activities. The event aimed to sensitize the local population, particularly mothers, caregivers, and young women, about the importance of breastfeeding for the health and well-being of both mother and child.

The program commenced with a traditional lamp lighting ceremony, marking the beginning of a day dedicated to learning and awareness. The faculty members of the Department of Community Medicine, along with Anganwadi workers and the supervisor, actively participated in the proceedings. MBBS interns from the 2020 batch presented an engaging role play/skit designed to communicate vital messages about breastfeeding practices in an interactive manner. Educational posters were displayed to reinforce the messages visually, while faculty members delivered insightful talks on the theme “Prioritize Breastfeeding – Strengthening Support Systems.” The discussions emphasized the critical role of family, community, and healthcare providers in enabling mothers to breastfeed successfully, thus contributing to healthier future generations.

The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks, followed by the distribution of fresh fruits to the attending local women and children, symbolizing nourishment and care. This initiative reflected the institution’s deep commitment to community health promotion, bridging the gap between medical knowledge and grassroots awareness. Under the leadership of Shri Suresh Singh Bhadoria, Index Group of Institutions continues to champion public health initiatives that go beyond the campus and touch the lives of people in surrounding rural areas. The Department of Community Medicine, through such activities, remains dedicated to empowering communities with essential health knowledge, fostering a healthier and more informed society.
