Index Medical College Hospital & Research Centre, Indore, has marked a significant milestone in advanced medical education and patient care with the formal inauguration of a state-of-the-art Arthroscopy Cadaveric Research Lab. This cutting-edge facility is designed to enhance surgical precision, particularly in the field of sports injury management, and is regarded as a major achievement for the region. Inaugurating the lab, Shri Suresh Singh Bhadoria, Chairman of Mayank Welfare Society, emphasized that such advanced infrastructure will reduce patients’ dependence on metropolitan cities for specialized orthopedic care. The lab enables surgeons to practice arthroscopic procedures on real human anatomy, thereby refining their skills and improving surgical outcomes. Dean Dr. Sanjeev Narang described the initiative as a landmark step that strengthens the academic standing of Index Medical College on the national platform.

The new Arthroscopy Cadaveric Research Lab is expected to bring a transformative change in the diagnosis and treatment of sports-related injuries. Renowned arthroscopy expert Dr. Abhishek Kalantari conducted a live cadaveric demonstration, showcasing advanced arthroscopic techniques for the knee, shoulder, and other joints. The session proved highly beneficial for medical students, resident doctors, and faculty members, offering hands-on exposure to complex procedures. Dr. Kalantari highlighted that common sports injuries such as ligament tears, meniscus injuries, and shoulder dislocations can now be treated more safely and effectively using modern arthroscopic methods. With increasing participation in sports and physical activities, the incidence of sports injuries is rising rapidly, and this lab will serve as a dedicated platform for learning precise diagnosis and minimally invasive treatment techniques. Ultimately, it will help athletes recover faster and return to their sport with greater confidence.

From an academic perspective, the Arthroscopy Cadaveric Research Lab represents a major advancement in medical training. Head of the Department of Orthopedics, Lt. Col. Dr. Ajay Singh Thakur, stated that cadaver-based learning bridges the gap between theory and practice for undergraduate and postgraduate students. Practicing procedures in a controlled environment before performing surgeries on patients enhances confidence and significantly reduces the risk of complications. The lab will also facilitate future workshops, training programs, and national-level courses. Head of the Department of Anatomy, Dr. Vimal Modi, added that this initiative will benefit patients through improved treatment quality, empower students with advanced practical skills, and provide new direction to medical education. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Dr. Abhay Manchanda, Dr. G.S. Patel, Dr. Prem Nyati, and other senior doctors and faculty members.
