The Foundation Course for the newly admitted MBBS 2025–26 batch commenced on 3rd October at Index Medical College Hospital & Research Centre, Indore, conducted in accordance with the guidelines of the National Medical Commission (NMC). Organized from 3rd to 18th October, the program aimed to familiarize students with the academic structure, learning environment, and essential competencies required in medical education. Through multiple interactive sessions, experts introduced students to the institution’s vision, curriculum design, and the values that shape their journey toward becoming responsible healthcare professionals.
During the course, Dean Dr. G.S. Patel addressed the students on the fundamental purpose of the program—developing a strong foundation in medical learning and helping students understand the seriousness and responsibility of the profession. He emphasized that becoming a doctor is not only about acquiring knowledge but also about nurturing empathy, discipline, and integrity. Dr. Prem Nyati further guided the students on self-care, dedication, and compassion, reminding them that medical practice represents both intellectual excellence and service to society. Registrar of Malwanchal University, Dr. Lokeshwar Singh Jodhana, provided an in-depth overview of the university’s structure and academic processes, while Controller of Examinations, Dr. Neha Khare, oriented students on the university and college examination system.
The course also included enriching sessions by senior faculty members. Vice Dean Dr. Romi Srivastava introduced students to the nuances of medical education, college life, and professional conduct. Medical Superintendent Dr. Swati Prashant explained the functioning of Index Hospital, its patient-care services, and the clinical exposure students will experience during their training. Additionally, Dr. Rahul Tanwani motivated the students to excel not only in academics but also in cultural, sports, and other extracurricular activities, highlighting the importance of holistic development in shaping a successful medical career. By the conclusion of the program, students were equipped with clarity, confidence, and a deep sense of purpose as they step forward into their transformative journey in medical education at Index Medical College.
