Index Medical College Hospital & Research Centre successfully concluded a three-day Basic Course in Medical Education (BCME) training programme aimed at strengthening the teaching competencies of medical faculty and enhancing the quality of medical education. Organised in accordance with the guidelines of the National Medical Commission (NMC), the Faculty Development Programme focused on Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME), modern teaching methodologies, and innovative learning approaches. During the concluding ceremony, certificates were presented to the participants by Chairman of Mayank Welfare Foundation Shri Suresh Singh Bhadoria, Dean Dr. Sanjeev Narang, MEU Coordinator and Vice Dean Dr. Romi Shrivastava, and Medical Superintendent Dr. Swati Prashant. NMC Observer Dr. Apurva Bhupendra Thakur was also specially present on the occasion. The three-day training programme provided faculty members with practical exposure to various effective teaching and assessment techniques. Participants were trained in preparing learning objectives, micro-teaching, small-group teaching, interactive classroom methods, formative and summative assessments, and innovative learner-centred approaches. Through group discussions, case-based learning, practical activities, and presentations, faculty members gained hands-on experience in applying contemporary teaching strategies. Experts highlighted that medical education today extends beyond completing the curriculum and must focus on developing competent healthcare professionals equipped with knowledge, ethical values, communication skills, professional behaviour, and a patient-centred approach. The programme emphasised the crucial role of trained faculty in the effective implementation of the NMC’s medical education framework and in ensuring continuous improvement in the quality of medical teaching. The successful completion of the BCME programme marked an important step towards strengthening continuous faculty development at Index Medical College. Dean Dr. Sanjeev Narang stated that the institution remains committed to enhancing the quality of medical education and will continue to organise such Faculty Development Programmes for the continuous skill development of its teaching faculty.
