Index Medical College, Hospital & Research Centre, a constituent of Malwanchal University, Indore, successfully organized a Continuing Medical Education (CME) program and workshop on the theme “Covid Update”. The event was hosted by the Department of Internal Medicine and aimed to provide updated insights on the evolving nature of the COVID-19 pandemic, emerging variants, and advancements in clinical management and public health strategies. The academic gathering brought together senior faculty members, clinical experts, postgraduate students, and interns from various medical disciplines.

The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Salil Bhargava, Dean Academics, who reflected on the critical lessons learned during the peak of the pandemic and emphasized the need to reintegrate preventive practices into routine life. He noted the resurgence of new COVID-19 variants and highlighted the importance of adopting preventive measures such as wearing masks, maintaining hand hygiene, and encouraging timely testing. Dr. Bhargava stressed that with each emerging strain, symptom profiles continue to evolve, underscoring the necessity for ongoing medical education and preparedness.

Dr. Ishani Deshmukh, from the Department of Respiratory Medicine, presented an evidence-based overview of current COVID-19 treatment protocols and evolving therapeutic strategies. Dr. Meghraj Singh provided a comprehensive historical timeline of the pandemic, outlining its various phases and public health responses. The event was presided over by Dr. G.S. Patel, Dean of Index Medical College, and Dr. Sudhir Maurya, Head of the Department of Internal Medicine. The workshop witnessed active participation from the departments of Medicine, Respiratory Medicine, Pediatrics, Microbiology, and Community Medicine. This initiative reflects the institution’s continued commitment to advancing medical education, promoting interdepartmental collaboration, and enhancing preparedness for emerging healthcare challenges.
